Orange, Orange, Orangina
Next up is the Organina top from Glampyre! I can't get enough of small-gauge cotton, right?? Its just way too cute to resist any longer.
From what I've heard, the construction is pretty simple: front and back worked separately from the top down, then joined for ribbing and seamed at the end. I can handle that!
I've been thinking about this top for awhile, and casually investigating colors of 4-ply cottons, but nothing had jumped out at me yet. Then, Monday night, I noticed Elann had posted Endless Summer Lara. I have a credit with them! It was fate!
Coral colors have been really appealing to me lately, so I went with this, Brick.
It should come in the mail maybe today. Hopefully its the right color in person. What if it is super red?? Hmmm. maybe I will just go with it.
I bought 9 skeins, which is probably way too many, but it had slightly less yardage than the Rowan 4-ply. Any ideas for 4-ply cotton leftovers??

Great color and a cute top. You'll be very stylish this summer.

I'm working on Orangina too. It's a really fun easy knit, once you get the hang of the lace pattern. There is an Orangina along going on on Craftster.org and there is good info there. I just got some Lara too I've never used it before. I'll be reading to see how it works out. Maybe you could do Pipa from Rowan 37 (a bolero) or that little purse pictured with it?

i think i'm starting orangina this weekend too - a friend recommended browh sheep's cotton fine and we're going shopping on sunday so i probably won't be able to resist casting on asap. i'm also leaning towards bright colors - it's such a sassy pattern!
as for leftovers, if you really don't have a lot, what about that cute tea set that anne modesitt created a while back? i know a certain niece of mine would love a knitted tea set!

I loved the colors of the cotton - shame we can't get Elann's in the UK :(
Look at the Rowan Magazines - they have loads of patterns for 4 ply cotton - there's some lovely vintage patterns in Issue 35.

I haven't used this cotton before...I'll be awaiting your thoughts on it! At first when I saw orangina out there, I wasn't sure about it. But it is really starting to appeal to me...I've seen it in black, which I really like...can't wait to see your red. I may have to do this one, really...

That is going to look so awesome! I really like your color choice for that top. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Elann comes through for you! A great thing to make with Rowan 4-ply (and i know you have the book) is the cables purse. I think it calls for Koigu Premium Merino, but I bought some 4ply rowan (100%merino) since its the same gauge. I really like how it has the same sheen as Koigu. So, that is one idea for you!
Have a good night!

I just ordered Lara yesterday for my Orangina! But I decided on black, becasue well I look good in it. I was worried about that I had made a bad subsuite, but now that I see you choose it too I am feeling much better about it. I am hoping to cast on as soon as my yarn arrives. I look foward to watching your progress!
