Jaywalker One

Ah Jaywalker sock, what wonderful things you do to this yarn..

Jaywalker_cuff.jpg

well, on the cuff that is. Once past the heel, the yarn gave up its nice striping and broke out in all sorts of pooling.

70 stitches on size 1 needles is apparently the *perfect* number for pooling with Bearfoot. or maybe just this skein of Bearfoot. Whatever the technical details, all the blues lined up on one side, and all the reds on the other. Then, just before the toe, the pooling mysteriously up and moved.

I thought about undoing it, and finding a non-pooling pattern, but the nice cuff striping is so lovely, its enough to excuse all later color convergence.

I think the pooling looks fine. I love the colors in the sock, they work perfectly with Grumperina's pattern!

Stephanie:

Despite the pooling, it's a very pretty sock. And the foot part will be in your shoe, so no one will ever see it, just the pretty stripes on the leg. How did you like knitting with the Bearfoot?

Wow, I love that colorway! The cuff looks great, you're right! And how does it fit? Is it elastic enough to be comfy?

Oooooooohh, so pretty. The pooling doesn't bother me at all for some reason in that colorway. The cuff is indeed beautiful. Can't wait to see your finished pair.

Nancy:

You're right, the tops turned out really nicely. I wouldn't have ripped them out either. Also, excellent job in working on your other projects and letting us slower demi people catch up! :)

adele:

It's looking great. :)

beth:

Yes, they will be in your shoe. They are great!

Bearfoot does some weird stuff, doesn't it? But the cuff looks so good that I am in complete support of your decision to just leave it.

I wouldn't rip eith either! The cuff looks perfect and the foot will be in your shoe anyways, so no one will know but you, and us, of course ;)

Well personally I love the pooling, it adds a bit of character. Plus they are really lovely looking.

I'm glad you're leaving it, since it looks great. You wear shoes anyway!

jody:

the cuff looks magnificent! it's a total pain about the foot, but that comes with the territory with handdyed. i had similar things starting with mine done out of Tess' and ended up decreasing a few more stitches. it did the trick for mine, but i have a lot more colors in my yarn than yours so i don't know if that would have helped you (or if you could have decreased a little more and still had the stretch you needed).

btw, your pics look great. i have such a terrible time photographing reds. any tips? often they come out retina-searing hot, but yours looks so true to life.

Pooling, schmooling. I think that sock looks fantastic! I'll be curious to see how sock #2 works out. Enjoy!

it looks nice, i would not worry about pooling.

So pretty! I love the cuff. You made the right decision, just keep it as is.

I love those colors! Like a campfire! I like the pooling actually, it's a beautiful contrast with the stripes.

I think they look great!

They're fantastic...I love the cuff. And the foot pooling looks fine - stripes kind of disappearing into the sole. Great pattern; great FO!

Barb:

Those socks are beautiful. I love the colors and the pooling.

That is interesting about the pooling. The sock looks great, though!
