Done!

Sockpal socks are complete! thank god. These were my primary project for the past week and a half, and I am very happy to have them done.

Details:
Yarn: Knitpicks color your own, dyed with kool aid.
Pattern: 68 stitches, 3x1 rib on instep and leg. Turkish cast on for toe, short row heel.
Needles: size 1 40" circ
Stripes: 10 red stripes from toe to heel (not including the bit of red starting the toe); 10 purple stripes from heel to cuff.

Since December, I've knit a number of pairs of socks with knitpicks color your own sock yarn.
1. Red Elfine socks for my aunt
2. Stripey stockinette socks for my mom
3. Cascading leaves socks in green
4. The green and orange knee socks
5. These sock pal socks

No wonder I need to a break from it!

For the elastic, I worked 3 rows, then knotted the two ends and wove them in. its quite likely that there is a better way to do this.. but this method works.

Sockpal, I hope you like these!

If, for some reason, your sock pal doesn't like those socks, let him/her know they can pass them on to me. I love that color combo! :)

Very nice. And you're so quick. I'm impressed (and look at how great they match).

Love them! i wish I was your sock pal, those colors are perfect for me!

Fab socks, love the dye job.

I love the 40" circ for magic loop. LOVE IT.

Cool socks, the self dyed colour combination is really nice. I also like the idea with the removable elastic and that you count your stripes ;-)

So cute and cheery! You're a great dyer!

YOUR Sock Pal:

Just wanted to let you know that I will be frantically working on your socks right up to the last minute. I needed a new needle, though, and just got it today. And, well, I have quite a bit of sock #2 to go :) Just a heads up. I'll keep you updated, though!

Totally cute! Fab dye job too, those stripes look perfect!

Great dye job! I bet your sockpal will really love them :)

Gillian:

Great socks and good thinking about the elastic.

What I did last time for elastic (which I often use in some way) was to knit in a stretchy thread I had. It was very fine, almost fluffy when not under tension and light grey. It came on a small cone for use with a serger sewing machine.

At the same time, I think I'll look for the elastic you had and see what I can do with it.

Great socks...and I LOVE the elastic idea! I have a few pairs which slouch - does the elastic bother your legs?

sock pal:

Your socks went in the mail this morning, priority. Hopefully you'll have 'em by the end of the week!

My first time in this blog - very nice! You've done so many pretty socks! I'm sure your sock pal will love these socks :)
