Gentleman's Fancy Socks

Even though they look all crumply and strange, these are my best-fitting socks.

GentFancySocks_done.jpg

The Specs:

Pattern: Gentleman's Fancy Socks from
Yarn: Lang Jawoll, 2 skeins in color #0164
Needles: Size 0 Addi, 40 inch for the magic loop
Modifications: skipped the 6 even rows before the toe shaping.

The yarn was a good match for the pattern. It used nearly all of the two skeins. I think Jawoll might be a good match for a number of patterns in Knitting Vintage Socks that call for skinny socks yarn. Size 0 needles are small though! these felt like they took forever. can you imagine the original vintage patterns that used even skinnier yarns?

Oh! He He! I was thinking the pink was extra fancy for a gentleman! They're great!

Beautiful socks!

Oooh, loving the purply goodness. Must try the Lang Jawoll. I'm so glad you have a pair of socks that fit you just right! :)

What, no modeled shot to see the un-rumply goodness? =) Glad you found socks that fit well!

Rain:

The socks look fab, I love the colour. Do we get a foot shot?

I have some of my grandmother's patterns that are really really old and call for ridiculously thin yarn. Some of them are really beautiful, but I can't bring myself to make them as I'd be knitting forever.

jody:

pretty! i love the subtle effect the yarn gives to the overall sock. i keep saying i need to buy myself some lang jawoll. great stuff!

kris:

i love them! the colour is fantastic!

They look lovely. Can we see an "in action" shot?

They turned out great!! The more you knit with fingering weight and 0s, the more normal it feels. :) But I can't imagine knitting with anything finer.

I like the Jawoll color variations. It knit up really well in that pattern.

Dani:

Holy socks! Those green and orange striping ones are amazing... They look like a sophisticated, but fun pair of college sports type socks :) And the ones you finished do look amazingly comfortanble. Nice jbo Diana!

can we see an on-the-feet pic? ;-)

they look great! long socks like that on size 0's... you've got some patience. thanks for sharing

Stephanie:

Great socks - I love the color. And thanks for the info on the yarn - I'll have to get some for some of my future socks from that book.

They look wonderful, very squishy-comfy.

Thanks SO much for posting your Cascading Leaves socks when you did. I was just about to cast on for these and your tip to readjust the stitches on the needles so the pattern lined up with the ribbing of the cuff was right on.

SQ:

instead of throwing confetti next new years, i think you should throw socks. :)

oo! Those are some lovely socks. I really like the pattern, they look like something you'd buy at Nordstrom's! And no, I can't imagine knitting with skinnier yarn, and don't want to. I'm glad our times allow us to knit somewhat bulky-looking items!

Hi from Austria! Oh, these socks are so gorgeous, I love the colorline and the pattern! Great work done!

jen:

The socks are beautiful! I really like the colors your chose.

I am very impressed with those socks. my favorite colors too. Quite an accomplishment for such small thread. dont forget to darn it the second you notice a hole.
