Fair Isle-ing

First there were the endpaper mitts.

Specs:
Yarn: Knit Picks Palette from SQ and Drops Alpaca from Kris (thanks, yarn providers!)
Pattern: Eunny's Endpaper Mitts
Needles: Magic loop with size 1 and 2 needles.
Cast on: I did try the recommended turkish tubular cast on, but after 3 tries it was back to the one in the Knitters Book of Finishing Techniques.

I held the green alpaca in my left hand, for correct color domination. Before these mitts, I used to switch hands depending on how much of each color there was in a round. oops.

Next there is a start to the Anemoi Mittens. These are not going quite so fast because of color indecision (not to mention corrugated ribbing). The current white with navy is a bit off in some indiscernible way.. other options are the green alpaca and maybe brown.. the brown might be it.

ps. completely unrelated, but anyone battling spam? After installing akismet a couple weeks ago the number of spam comments making it to my inbox has gone down to zero. available for MT and Wordpress.

I've been lurking for a while but I felt like sharing. My apartment-mate walked in as I was looking at your mitts. When he asked how I was, I replied, "I want to eat these gloves." That green is fabulous and now I have to make a pair of these.

Love the endpaper mitts! Both of those hand accessories are on my knit list. Hopefully I'll get to them before spring arrives.

Two words for you: Wow. WOW. The Endpaper mitts are super-awesome. Congrats on a GREAT color combo! I, too, plan on knitting both those hand accessories...sometime...in January? February? Sometime soon.

You have me rethinking my color choices, though.

nat:

The endpaper mitts are so pretty! I love the colors. I can't wait to see the next pair.

jody:

the endpaper mitts look great. i have the hardest time with tensioning color changes when they're all single stitches. yours look great.

and i'm totally installing akismet over christmas break. i've got my spam under control, but hearing how well yours worked is the final push i needed.

Whee! The mitts are so cute - love that subtly heathery green.

I just cast on for the Endpaper mitts, and the tubular caston baffled me as well. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone--I was feeling some severe knitting inadequacy ;)

The mits are gorgeous. Those Anemoi mits are next on my list, too.

As for Akismet, I heart that program. What a HUGE difference it's made.

love the mitts!! just gorgeous. is it hard to install akismet? i've been getting spams all day long.

liz:

WOW! Those look great...I seriously gasped out loud in awe.

I received my yarn today for the anemoi mittens. After those I'll move on to the endpaper mitts. I need covered fingers right now!

kris:

oh the endpapers are too cute! i love them!

So beautiful! The slightly variegated green looks very lovely with white.

Britt:

Man, you waste no time. How can you guys knitting this stuff so fast? I am so jealous.

Elli:

Love them! That green is so yummy...

He he, it's all Eunny all the time! The Anemoi mitts ae so original, I can't wait to see them.

nona:

I absolutely love, love, love -- did I say love -- your mitts! Your colorwork turned out beautifully. Before I learned about yarn dominance, I too switched hands depending on which color was used more. It must be the natural evolution of stranded knitting :-) I look forward to seeing your mittens.

oh! those are lovely! both of those patterns are in the queue for me ... i'm waiting on yarn. can't wait to see those anemoi mittens!

I just started the endpaper mitts yesterday and my stitches are so uneven compared to yours! Yours are so beautiful!

Those came out beautiful! I was oblivious to yarn dominance too before I read about it!

I like the brown for the mitts - maybe with the natural?

amazingly enough, i only get a spam comment making it to my inbox once in a great while! i wonder what i'm doing right (or wrong as the case may be.)

love all this fair isle you've got here! fair isle's been really hot in blogland this year just like last year it was lace. hhmmmm, i wonder what 2007 has in store?

Those are so lovely! I just love those colors.

Your endpaper mitts are lovely-especially like that shade of green.

Those are gorgeous! Your tension is perfect! I am getting back into the colorwork groove and I'm so out of practice. I'll look to your endpapers for inspiration.

Lovely endpaper mitts! I think the brown and white will be beautiful for the Anmoi Mittens, too.

nova:

your endpaper mitts are lovely!

very cute! I've been dreaming up all sorts of color combinations for these, though I'm not sure I'll get around to making a pair anytime soon.

your mitts are fantatsic!! this are defintely in my on-deck circle now for knit projects... (after those damn hoilday knits!)

I love them!!!

Oooh, those are beautiful! Gorgeous stuff.
Those are on my "to-knit" list.

Lovely! The stitches on the Endpaper Mitts look so even and perfect. I have a lot of practicing to do before my fair isle looks so nice.

Beautiful color combo, too!

That green is amazing!

Lisa:

Wow - you and I must be on the same wavelength... I just some Gems Louet Pearl in cream and navy blue to make Eunny's Anemoi Mitts! Your endpaper mitts turned out beautifully.

LOVE your color choices for the Endpaper Mitts! They look perfect.
Thanks for the akismet tip too! I've been looking for something for MT.

Stephanie:

Wow. Those are gorgeous and you knit them so quickly. Now I want a pair of both. Thanks for the spam tip.

Ann:

Question on Akismet. I installed it, but spam seems to be at the same rate. Is there something you have to do to "activate" it? I used blacklist on old MT and I think you had to configure to start. Am I totally missing something on the documentation? thanks!

Beautiful mitts! Love that green.

And thanks for the Akismet tip! I'm going to look into it!

Those mittens are gorgeous!! I love the colors you chose. Your urban aran is great too. Those pattons booklets have some real gems sometimes!

WOW! My breath was taken away when I saw those beautiful pieces of work! Great color choice. Were they hard to do?

Gorgeous mitts! The colors are perfect. I have never done two-color stranded knitting, but I am feeling the pull!

Gorgeous--those turned out wonderfully! I love both of these patterns--now I really can't wait to make them!

Diana, they are gorgeous mitts. Great color choices!

Lori:

Love the colors you chose.

Hey Diana - I'm putting together galleries of reader knits - can I include yours with credit and a link (of course)

Gorgeous! I love the colors you chose! And, a little late on this, but your Urban Aran is beautiful, also!

Jen:

They turned out great!!

Marsa:

Thanks for the spam tip, have to say I was happy when I came across your blog. I had never thought of using yarn from sweaters I no longer wear, etc! Your pictures really show well, what kind of camera/brand/model do you use?

Erin:

Wow--I am in love with those gloves. Perhaps I need to make them...

These are fabulous, so fabulous that i think i may be brave enough to try knitting some myself, ahem!

Lana:

Very pretty!!! ^_^

Love the mitts! Where'd you run off to?

Hello fellow obessed Eunny fan. This woman walks on water, her designs are gorgeous. What you have made is beautiful, truly beautiful. The Anemoi Mittens are difficult to resist making. I look forward to seeing your pair. I think they will look awesome in navy/white.

I recently found your blog and loved it! Your knitting is very inspiring! I wish you'd come back to blog!

I love the color you chose for your mitts.
