A tale of two yokes
Isager alpaca is really nice. So nice that I forgot to check my needle size before knitting the yoke. oops. The pattern said size 3mm needles, which I hastily interpreted as US size 3, which is almost correct. So I ended up with a rather large yoke, and promptly re-knit it on size 1 needles.
Though the knitting was much more pleasant on the larger needles, I love the tight look of the smaller yoke. Plus, it should hold up better once its weighted down with the rest of the sweater. I am calling this my "Early Spring Sweater" (ravelry link) in hopes I will finish before the summer.
Next up, picking up stitches and working downward.
on size 3 needles: kinda big
on size 1 needles: better
ps. I stand corrected. Knitalongs are alive and well over on ravelry, where they are likely way more efficient than multiple linked blogs. But if anyone is interested in an old-fashioned blog-based knit along, I'd find it pretty hard to resist. What would we knit?

i don't think i've ever participated in a old-fashioned blog-based knitalong! there are so many cool patterns out there now. i bet the FLS would be a good pattern.
how do you think the yoke would look on size 2 needles?

Oooh...that's going to be awesome! I've never even seen the Amimono patterns before. Where do you find them in the US? I would be totally tempted to do an Amimono knitalong :)

Cowls or handwarmers, something small, doesn't take too long, or requires much calculation! An exchange would be even better!

You've inspired me to make Olive... I picked out the yarn from work yesterday! I'm going to try to start it today - can't wait to see how yours turns out! (an amimono knitalong sounds fab!)

I agree with the previous commenters. A whole bunch of stockinette in the round sounds like good maternity leave knitting :)
Where did you get the pattern?

I love that pattern! Just added to my list. Seems like a perfect spring/summer knit. I'm totally into the idea of an amimono knitalong. Fun!

What a cute pattern! I'm looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. So far, lookin' good.
I don't think I could hang in there for all that stockinette knitting, but I've an idea to knit the yoke, then use fabric to sew the rest of the sweater. hmmmmm...

Yes, the smaller yoke is much better. I love how it's turning out and can't wait to see the body shape up. I don't know what we'd knit, but I like the idea of an "old-fashioned" (haha) blog kal.

Ooh, garter stripes are some of my very favorite things. Ever. Your yoke is beautiful, great decision to go down to the ones!

I have that pattern book too. Olive is one of my fav. It's nice to hear that you like the Isager alpaca. I've been thinking a while to stash some.
