Return of the Half-knitted Items

The other day I noticed that half-knitted things were lounging on nearly every available surface in my room. Now, this is especially disturbing because at one point in time, I declared myself a one-project-at-a-time knitter. Ooops. guess I fell off that wagon.

Cases in point:

1. A partially knitted One Skein Wonder, looking lovely in pink on my nighstand.

2. The crocheted sling bag, travel-ready in a ziploc, waiting for a good subway ride on my fiber cabinet. (Yes, I have a piece of furniture whose sole purpose is to store yarn...there's no going back now.)

3. Long neglected, Orangina waits patiently on the top of the bookshelf, hoping someday to get that last 2 inches of ribbing. Someday.

4. Hiding out next to Orangina is a sock and half so unloved it didn't even warrant mention here before now. I made it quite far on this pair of socks before deciding the gauge is too loose and have yet to decide whether this development warrants ripping.

My goal: finish these knit items and send them on their way!

good luck being able to stick to your plan on that one! i'm trying something similar myself. it will be great to get them off of both of our plates!

Maritza:

I feel much better now that I know that I am not the only one who has three or four projects going on at the same time after vowing (and sticking to it for a good two or three months) to do the one-project-at-a-time thing.

At least you can never be bored... you have so many fun options!

Oh I hear you...really I do. I have the same problem...this week is finishing week for me.

YOU CAN DO IT! I just finished 4 projects that had been lounging around and causing me grief! Get rid of them...which will warrant buying more yarn and new needles...oops...did I just confess to something?

I feel your pain... I used have 4 or 5 projects going on at once and I never felt like I was accomplishing anything. Now I've set my limit at 3 and only one of those can be a sweater. But I'm still so looking forward to seeing your Orangina!

I used to be a one project girl, but then I somehow got ADD and now I keep starting projects or thinking up more projects and not really finishing them. sigh, good luck! I would start with the smallest one and build your way up (or would it be dig yourself out :P )

It's as though all the projects are haunting you from different directions! No matter where you look, there they are: unfinished and in need of attention. Good luck!

Ha! I was totally going to write a post just like this, but I got exhausted just finding all the UFOs. Danger, Will Robinson.

Did you try the bigger crochet hook yet?

These are lovely photos of works in progress. Lovely blue and white tin next to orangina.

What, do these things just lurk around the house :-)? Do you think that they have little meetings when you're not around "I think that she'll knit me first." "No, me!"

the best laid plans often go astry when it comes to finishing projects....ask me how i know!

i know what you mean... (we all do!)

you have some beautiful projects there, hurry up and finish them! i want to see you wearing the orangina!

My philosophy is that multiple projects keeps me from becoming bored. That's not exactly a good excuse but it's the only one I have.

Tara:

I'm sending supportive vibes your way~~~~ Not that I have any finishing powers of my own... But at least you're really close wtih the OSW and Orangina!

Dani:

I wish I could be a one project wonder, but I find myself too excited and anxious to start other projects before I finish. You are doing great Diana... you'll finish them all before you know it! Maybe just set a deadline for each or something like that?

Get back on that wagon, sister! The good news is that they're all pretty quick and you can whip them out in no time at all. And then you'll have pictures to show us! I live for pictures!

Heh, I always do that, declare myself to be whatever and then immediately do the opposite.

They are all great projects, I'd have a hard time choosing what to finish first.

Yeah, I fell off of that wagon too--long ago. Like others have said, you are leaving your options open--that is how I think of it :)
